‘I have come that they might have life and have it to the full.’ John 10.10

‘The glory of God is a human being fully alive.’ St Ireneus

Our 2012 Teacher’s Conference, is scheduled to be held on the 9th and 10th July 2012, at Citipointe Church and Citipointe Christian College, Wecker Road Carindale.

Our conference theme is “e:quip” to the challenges that face us and how we can be equipped to understand how to change the world. To change the world is at some point, to take power seriously, but not in the conventional sense, that we understand. Rather, it is the power to define reality in ways that sustains benevolence and justice and exemplifying meaning.  As Jesus created a network of disciples who created new institutions that embodied an alternative to the reigning ways of life at that time.  As St Ireneus said, ‘the glory of God is a human being fully alive.’

Our Keynote sessions will be delivered by Simon Walker. Simon’s main talks will be around four of the seven capabilities relating to the Australian Curriculum: Critical and creative thinking, Ethics, Personal and Social Competence and Intercultural Understanding. These four elements should be underpinned by a distinctively Christian understanding and in some cases approach. His aim is to build confidence and clarity amongst the Christian teachers about how their faith informs and directs their commitment and practice in this national curriculum. In this way they can be e:quipped to:

  • be excellent in delivering Christian education within the Australian school’s curriculum
  • challenge and change culture where appropriate
  • be distinctive in their mandate as Christian schools.

We pray that, as delegates prepare their hearts and minds for this conference that will be challenged on how they can equip our students to challenge and change culture as the future leaders of our global world.
