No. We originated in Queensland, Australia, but we deliberately chose a name for our association which would allow people in any country or any part of Australia to be associated with us.
No, most of our members are already members of ISQ or some other State branch of the Independent Schools Council of Australia. We think that the effective work of this organisation should be supported.
Likewise, we are not in opposition to other Christian education organisations. Their work is important, too, and we hope to sit down with them in the peer equality of Round Table Discussions from time to time.
No. Our fees are set primarily for individual schools in Queensland or other States. It is possible to apply for Associate membership.
The fees for this level of membership are set according to the needs and capacity to be involved of the applying organisation. For example, an organisation or a school outside of Australia, may benefit from being associated with us, but should only pay a nominal sum because of their distance from most events.
Christian educational institutions in poorer countries may be less able to pay than those in wealthier nations.
Each school or organisation should apply and seek information on what it would cost.
Our Association is not trying to build a large membership base, nor create a wealthy organisation.
Service is our core goal.
ACS has a very simply-expressed Statement of Faith.
It is undeniably Christian, but is designed to be able to be subscribed to by Catholics and Protestants, by all shades of Christian faith, as long as the centrality of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the Son of God is kept at the centre.
We are a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
We have a Constitution which outlines our basis of belief and operation.
We employ an Executive Officer, who may be contacted for advice on all kinds of school operational matters. (In the spirit of one of our core values, the EO may direct an enquiry to a member school who can best help; we try to encourage help through relationship rather than a mindset of a Central Office which gives advice.)
We offer short seminars, conferences and a range of other Professional Development opportunities to suit the varying needs of those involved in Christian education.
Online, we publish a range of writings and links that may be of assistance.
