Part-time (0.4 FTE)

The Northside Christian College IT team is growing, and is now hiring an IT security support team member to assist with implementing security measures to protect the College. This role is a part time position (0.4 FTE), with some flexibility within school hours.

Duties will include:

  • Improving/Maintaining and implementing security policies
  • Keep up to date with the latest security and technology developments
  • Research/evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them
  • Plan for disaster recovery and create contingency plans in the event of any security breaches
  • Monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity
  • Test and evaluate security products
  • Design new security systems or upgrade existing ones
  • Use advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities
  • Identify potential weaknesses and implement measures, such as firewalls and encryption
  • Investigate security alerts and provide incident response
  • Monitor identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorised system users
  • Liaise with stakeholders in relation to cyber security issues and provide future recommendations
  • Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders
  • Maintain an information security risk register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security
  • Monitor and respond to ‘phishing’ emails and ‘pharming’ activity
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training for colleagues

Skills and experience should include:

  • A good working understanding of cloud and on premises technologies
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Good all round client facing skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Fundamental understanding and awareness of information security and how this is applied in operational environments
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and able to work under pressure
  • Experience with reviewing raw log files, data correlation and analysis would be an advantage (i.e. Firewall, network, IDS, system logs).
  • Experience in reviewing threat data from various sources.


  • Some appropriate study from an accredited university or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a ‘can-do’, pro-active, approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the College objectives.
